COSTA TEGUISE, LANZAROTE
On our general LANZAROTE page we
give a description of the
Island of Lanzarote.
In January 2009 Renata visited Lanzarote and was based
in the resort of
Costa Teguise. Renata's account of this
delightful resort follows:
"We arrived in Lanzarote on 24th of January (Saturday in
the morning) and we took a taxi to our accommodation
Hotetur Lanzarote Bay Apartments in Costa Teguise (taxi costs us € 15.00 only).
These Apartments were fully modernised in June 2008 and
they are 4*.
Hotetur Lanzarote Bay has 2 swimming pools
(one for adults and one for children), large sunbathing
area with deckchairs, buffet restaurant “Alisios” with
show cooking, snack & pool bar “ Papagayo”, lobby bar
“Malvasia” (a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail). We
were based on half board (breakfast and evening meal) -
the food was delicious.
The Hotetur Lanzarote Bay also has a spa (Jacuzzi,
sauna, Turkish bath, Vichy shower, full range of
treatments), gym and fitness room, tennis courts, multi
sport court (football, basketball, volleyball), wireless
internet connection in lobby
(4 computers), so you can’t get bored there.
Next day ( Sunday morning) we took a bus to the
Market
in Teguise (ticket
costs us € 5.00 return per person). Teguise is the old
capital of Lanzarote and is not to be confused with
Costa Teguise, the tourist resort on the coast, where we
stayed.
The market starts at around 9am and runs until 2pm every
Sunday and sells all manner of products from tablecloths to trainers, towels to handbags, pictures to
pottery, the list is very long. On some stalls it is
possible to haggle so bear this in mind when browsing.
All of the shops in
Teguise are open too!
The market is a lovely morning out and a great place to
get your holiday gifts at the best value. Just a small
warning though: it is colder in Winter at Teguise than
the other tourist resorts so be sure to take a jumper.
We also went to
Puerto Calero for
Submarine Safaris
– a dive onboard a real submarine. The actual dive takes
approx. one hour and costs
€ 52.00 per person.
Each submarine dive carries aboard a tour guide who
will give a comprehensive explanation about the dive and
the submarine. Cameras are perfectly suitable for taking
pictures inside the submarine. Onboard the submarine we
were allocated our personal seats, right in front of the
submarine's large viewing ports, ensuring with total viewing
pleasure the outside underwater world. Each view port
has its own TV monitor giving us alternative viewing
angles, along with a digital display panel giving
continuous information about the submarine.
Submarine Safaris offer 4
dives per day, 7 days a week.
It is also worth visiting the
Aquapark
in Costa Teguise. The attractions include childrens'
leisure park, game castle, artificial lake, childrens'
slides, Kamikaze slides, rapids, spiral, soft slides,
whirl water, 8 tracks, water tubes, lazy river etc… The
whole family will find suitable amusements, as well as
restaurants and shopping services for a fun day out".
