Mairead
Mairead has a description of a Royal Caribbean cruise.

The cruise is a 6 night Mediterranean Cruise to the Greek Isles on the Splendour of the Seas.

"
On July 4th 2008 I flew from Shannon to Treviso with Ryanair.   Treviso Airport is so stress-free, a very small airport with just two luggage carousels.

There is a public transport desk in the Arrivals Hall (ATVO) where you can buy a bus/train ticket to get into Venice.

I took the bus which cost €6.   The journey time is 1 hour approx to the Piazzale Roma Bus Terminus.

The Sofitel Hotel is very near the bus station.   I was able to journey there on foot, but there are taxis, water taxis and vaporetti all within the vicinity of Piazzale Roma which makes it all the easier for anyone wishing to reach the hotel.

On the morning of July 5th I got a taxi to the Cruise Terminal in
Venice to embark on my first ever cruise.

Royal Carribean's Splendour of the Seas is one of the smaller vessels in the Royal Caribbean  fleet. It has capacity for 2,076 passengers.   It is a 4* ship and is of a very good standard.   The facilities on board were just amazing.

Dining:

On Splendour of the Seas there were 3 dining options:

The Windjammer:

This is a buffet restaurant with casual dining, it rotates from Breakfast to Lunch and Dinner.

The Solarium Cafe:

This offers snacks after lunch such as pizza, hot dogs, toasted sandwiches and burgers.

The King and I:

This is the main dining room.   There are two sittings.   I was on the late sitting which was 8.00 p.m. The food was absolutely superb and the choice each night had something for every taste.   The level of service we received from the staff was also fantastic.

On this cruise there were two formal nights in the main dining room.

Room Service:

There is also the option to eat in the comfort of your cabin.   Room service is free of charge.

Entertainment:

There were West End standard Shows performed in the Theatre each night.   These were timed to suit both seatings in the Dining Room.   Therefore we could take in a show some evenings before dinner and after dinner on other evenings.

Casino:

The Casino was a great experience and was always busy!

Hat Bar:

This bar had a variety of entertainment on various evenings featuring Karaoke, piano and novelty items.

Kid's Entertainment:

Adventure Ocean had a great range of programmes for various age groups.

Activities on board:

Each morning you get a schedule of the activities on board each day, for example, Rock Climbing, Bingo, Walking Club plus activities for special interest groups booked on board."

Excursions:

At each port of call the option is available to take an organised excursion or just explore on your own.   You could also choose just to relax on board ship.  Guided excursions can be pre-booked on board.   I opted the the Athens excursion which was 3.5 hours with a guide and also included some time at leisure.   The cost of this excursion was $56.

Cruising with Royal Caribbean offers such amazing value for money and has so much to offer that it appeals to a very wide range of people"

If you are interested in this or any other cruise option why not call or e-mail Mairead at 065-9051046 or talk to any member of Lillis Travel's friendly staff.
